If you have not already, create an account and become a member of this group!
Earthquakes are an inevitable part of California’s future; therefore it is important to take steps to prepare now. As Scouts, emergency preparedness is a central element to our lives. Having a plan and preparing before an earthquake will reduce many injuries and save lives. We hope that this group may foster discussion and communication in order to spread earthquake preparedness throughout California.
Here you can share ideas and work with other scouting groups to prepare for The Great California ShakeOut. You may create forums about issues you are interested in or you may even post pictures or videos of how your scouting group is getting prepared for future earthquakes. If you want to get ideas on how your group can get involved in earthquake preparedness, post a question on a forum to see what other scouting groups in California are doing! You may also want to join up with other scout groups near you. If so, feel free to create regional groups in the Group box, where you can plan and coordinate events. Now, get ready to ShakeOut!

ShakeOut Scouting Patches:
To complete the first requirement for the ShakeOut patches you will need to plan a earthquake preparedness meeting for your scouts to participate in. Please use these two documents to plan your troop's meeting:
Also feel free to use the resources on this page, such as the
Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country booklet in the blog post or the
earthquake drill audio file in the first forum below. Most importantly, talk with other scouting groups in California to share ideas and information.
